Important: Scotia Gas Networks update on planned roadworks in Minster-on-Sea until July 2019 …

Scotia Gas Networks (SGN) wants to make residents aware of the upgrade to its gas network in Minster Road area of Minster-on- Sea.  Its project involves the essential replacement of old metal gas mains with new plastic pipe to ensure it continues to provide a safe and reliable gas supply to the local area. Contractor WCB Utilities are undertaking this work on SGN’s behalf.

In consultation with Kent County Council, they started upgrading the network on the 02 May 2019. Over the coming eight weeks, their engineers will progress through the following roads:

• Fleetwood Close – started 02 May and lasting approximately six weeks
• Minster Road – starting 27 May for approximately one week
• Bellevue Road – starting 28 May for approximately one week
• Glenwood Drive – starting 03 June April for approximately four weeks
• Saxon Avenue – starting 03 June for approximately five weeks
• Noreen Avenue and The Broadway – starting 17 June for approximately three weeks

To ensure everyone’s safety, whilst they are working in Bellevue Road and Glenwood Drive, they will need to close the roads at the junctions with Minster Road. From Monday 03 June they will need to close Saxon Avenue between its with junction The Broadway to Glenwood Drive, for approximately five weeks.  They will also need to close Noreen Avenue at its junction with The Broadway from Monday 17 June for approximately three weeks. Signed diversions will be place for motorist around all road closures and access will be maintained for residents.

SGN will need to install temporary traffic lights around the work area when working in Minster Road and The Broadway, for everyone’s safety. SGN understands that roadworks can be frustrating. However, the new plastic pipe has a minimum lifespan of 80 years. This means that when the work is complete, Minster- on- Sea residents will continue to enjoy the benefits of a safe and reliable gas supply for years to come.
