The purpose of this plan is to set out a clear set of guidelines that will govern Minster-on-Sea’s Community Emergency Plan’s work to support the multi-agency response to a significant flood or other incident on the Isle of Sheppey.

It acts in accordance with the Kent Multi Agency Flood Plan and the relevant emergency plans of all Category 1 and 2 Responders and the other organisations concerned with supporting the response of the community to a flood.

This plan has been produced to meet the requirements of the Civil Contingencies Act 2004.  It is built upon the existence and maintenance of Category 1 and 2 responders of their own plans in response to a flood.

The main objective of Minster’s Community Emergency Plan is to support the multi-agency coordinated response to a flood or other significant event in their responsibilities to protect life and wellbeing with the mitigation of property and environmental damage as a strong supporting objective.

This plan does not take into account damage or failure of sites of telecommunications, power stations, road or rail links.   This responsibility lies with the relevant utility or responding body.  Information is held at the Strategic Coordinating Centre by the Police and will be used there and interpreted by the relevant utility operator and the information provided to relevant parties due to the nature of its sensitivity.
